The bosses are out today so I spent a little extra time with the fam this morning and then stopped at Murky for a latte. Look at the perfectly roasted and lovingly prepared goodness of Murky.

Rasslin'
Yeah that's right, I love professional wrestling; it's goofy, escapist, no-brain fun taken to its ridiculous extreme.
As I type this, I'm hammered. I got hooked with tix to a box at the Verizon Center (as weird as it is to say that, it's even more weird that it already seems normal) for 2nite's WWE/ECW event. A couple of Miller Lites, a Jack & Coke, several Grey Goose & Grapefruits, and a big fat doobie account for my current slurring self. After both shows were over they had a dark match with Batista & Booker T, not a bad preview of this coming Sunday's PPV.

Live from Montreal
I had no idea what was going on yesterday when we were travelling and there was a ban on liquids in carry-on baggage, imagine my surprise when I saw the headlines at washingtonpost.com. The war on terror has definitely distracted airport security personnel from the war on drugs, I had an unmarked baggie filled with pills (amoxicillin, I had an ear infection) in my carry-on that noone asked any questions about.
Beautiful city, we're right in the heart of old Montreal. Unfortunately the cab drivers here suck, I've been in this city less than 36 hours and I've had to give directions to two cabbies. WTF? Also, what's up with $15/day for internet access in the hotel? I'm not even paying for it and I'm still appalled.
It's been nice to be able to walk outside and not soak through my shirt in ten minutes.

The Points @ Velvet Lounge
Went to the Velvet Lounge tonight and saw a couple of bands.
Two acts played before I got there, the first band I saw was The Lobsters. I'm guessing they're not from DC 'cause they were giving shout outs to JMU and Harrisonburg. They weren't bad as far as live music goes and seemed to draw a decent sized crowd, maybe 40-50 people total.
The second band was the one I came to see, the Points. One of my buddies from college (Dr. Mayhem) plays with them sometimes and tonight was one of those nights. This was the second time I've seen the Points and they were pretty tight.
I'm trying to help another buddy of mine in the band Guajiro get booked somewhere in DC in the last week of October or first week in November. They're an interesting band from the Miami area playing a mix of punk and power pop (think Dag Nasty or the Pixies) in both English and Spanish. If you have some hookups that you would like to share, leave me a comment or e-mail me.
