In Defense of Frat Boys

I was reading a blog post today and in it there was a swipe at "frat boys." Now I wasn't in a fraternity in college so I don't even know why I care about this, but for some reason I do and I'm gonna speak on it.

One thing that I've noticed over the years is that the folks who are most vehement about their hatred of "frat boys" and "jocks" and anyone else who doesn't fit into their narrow definition of an acceptable lifestyle, are essentially doing the same thing they accuse the frat boys of doing. That is, just lump a group of people together based on a set of assumptions and assume that they're all the same. It's really quite ironic.

Eh, as someone who frequently makes snide frat-boy jokes I can say for me it's not that I really think they are all the same it's just that most of the white frat-boys I've met are douches & everyone I know who went to colleges or universities with a decent greek presence has a lot of bad things to say about the white frats.

I'm inclined to agree. Greeks get tarred with a pretty wide brush. They're not all subliterate gangrapists; it really depends on the house.

Sororities, on the other hand....

I think Monkey's still a little bitter that while delivering pizzas along Greek row in College Park, a few of the frats tipped him but none of the sororities did.
